(From Andy Kerr - Head Coach)
This is late notice I know and I apologize for this but we (the coaches) have been talking about it for a few days and have decided to have a spaghetti dinner for the swimmers this week on Monday and Friday after the 5 to 6 practices. We decided to split the team into two groups because of the number of swimmers and thought it would be best to split it like this: Monday - 8 & unders, 9&10's and 11&12's and on Friday - 13&14's and 15-18's.
We will be having a spaghetti dinner and then after painting signs that will be placed on the road to the conference swim meet. This is a fun activity that I hope that all of the kids will be able to attend as it is a time to bond with other swimmers and the coaches.
The dinner will be at my house (Andy Kerr). The address to my house is 745 Windmill Circle. We can give swimmers rides to the dinner if they are at the 5 to 6 practice. If your children are not swimming at the 8 o'clock practice please pick them up at 7:35 from my house. If they are swimming at the 8 o'clock practice, drop them off at my house at 6:10 and then we can give them a ride down to the pool for late practice.
Remember that from 5 to 6 is for the 8 & unders and 9 & 10's.
Good luck to anyone golfing at the Golf Outing today! The golfing starts at 1pm at the Deer Valley Golf Course.

This year, the Mazomanie Barracudas will be having a golf outing/fundraiser, organized by Randy Adler and sponsored by RP Adler’s. The event will take place on Sunday, July 12th at the Deer Valley Golf Course, starting at 11am. There will be raffle prizes handed out and catered food by RP Adler’s. Cost is $55/person – each person will get a $10 gift card to RP Adler’s and all proceeds will go to the Mazomanie Barracudas (so it will be a major fundraiser for us!).
This is intended to be a fun event (not competitive) so I encourage everyone to consider coming out and participating. (I haven’t golfed in 20 years, but I’ll be there)
Information has been posted at the pool and sign-up sheets have been put in each family folder. I have also put the Information Flyer and Sign-up sheets on the website (in the Forms area) – please consider posting the information other places (work, etc) if you think you could get other people to participate. (Like I said earlier, this has the potential to be a major fundraiser for us if we can get a lot of people signed up.)
If you have any questions, just ask Randy Adler or Bob Craig.
The meet results have now been posted on our website and are available at http://inacudamooda.net/Documents/MazomanieAtSunPrairieMeetResults.pdf
The meet entries for this weekend’s meet at Sun Prairie are now posted on the website at http://inacudamooda.net/Documents/MazoAtSunPrairieMeetEntries.pdf.
As most of you have already noticed, the weather forecast looks miserable for Saturday morning (temps around 55deg with 50% chance of thunderstorms).
First of all, expect the meet to happen – that means that we need everyone who is entered in the meet to show up, even if it’s cold. (As I mentioned in the email yesterday, no-shows cause problems for everyone else, including our other swimmers). Bring lots of warm clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, EZ-Ups, etc.
On the morning of the meet, I will be meeting with the Sun Prairie team presidents and head official and assessing whether to start the meet or not, based on our Weather Cancellation Policy (reprinted below). If it is obvious that we’ll have to cancel, we’ll try to make that determination as early as possible on Saturday morning, but realistically it probably won’t happen until we are in Sun Prairie. If we are able to make the determination early and are cancelling the meet, I’ll send out an automated phone message immediately. However, to repeat, expect that you’ll be at the Sun Prairie pool at 7:15am.
MEET CANCELLATION POLICY FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS
Outdoor swim meets are subject to wide ranges of weather conditions. Safety of swimmers and spectators is a paramount concern. Comfort is also a consideration not to be ignored. Meets may be suspended, cancelled or rescheduled for reasons of inclement weather or because the water in the pool is very cold. Both teams must confer to decide and agree to cancel or reschedule a meet. Ideally, this should be done at least 90 minutes prior to the start of the meet.
Good judgment should be used by the teams before canceling a meet. The following variables should be considered in making this decision. It should take more than one of the listed conditions before a meet is cancelled:
a. Air temperature is below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. (If it is near 55 and rising, consider holding the meet.)
b. Water temperature is below 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
c. Rain
d. High winds
e. Threat of storms and lightning.
If the last dual meet of the season is cancelled, the meet does not need to be rescheduled. Every effort should be made to reschedule other cancelled meets. Any meet discontinued before completion may be finished at a later date if both teams agree to do so. The meet will proceed directly from where it was discontinued.
In the event the last meet of the season is cancelled, all entered swimmers scheduled to swim will be considered as having participated in the meet for purposes of qualifying for conference, whether or not they have actually swam. Coaches will submit their heat sheets for the cancelled meet to the team hosting conference.
We are again selling swim team clothing this year. A sample sheet that shows the 3 things we are selling this year (t-shirts, sweatshirts, and shorts) with a new for 2009 logo (designed by Susie Mather at Simply Swimming) and an order form are posted in the Forms section of the website.
If you would like to order clothing for your family, please print the order form, fill it out and give it to Bob Craig, along with a check made out to Mazomanie Barracudas. You can either give it to me personally when you see me or put it in the Craig family swim team folder at the pool.
Clothing orders are due no later than Thursday, June 11th. (Unfortunately, I can’t take orders after that date so get your orders in early.)
