Because of the severe weather and the prospect that more storms will be entering the area around 6pm, we have decided to postpone the potluck that was planned for tonight. It will instead be tomorrow night, Friday at 6pm. Practice for all ages will be 5-6pm.
We haven’t yet had a potluck, but will this Thursday with our traditional pre-Conference Spaghetti potluck. We’ll all meet at the park at 6pm (right after practice). Please bring a LARGE dish to share (plan for 20-40 servings).
The team will provide the spaghetti and tomato sauce. Add-ons for spaghetti would be great things to bring (meat balls, garlic bread, etc). We also need people to bring salads, other main dishes, and desserts.
BRING YOUR OWN drinks, plates, and eating utensils, as well as serving utensils for your dish. (We don’t plan to use the Turk Shelter)
Since kids will be getting out of practice right at 6pm and will be hungry, please try to get to the park BEFORE 6pm to bring your dish and help set up so that everyone can start eating right away.
The results are in! 15 of the 26 people/families who voted to go to Mt. Olympus want to go on Monday, July 26, the day after the Conference Swim Meet.
The cost is $13.50 per person. This includes: indoor and outdoor waterparks and dry amusement parks (a few rides cost extra money) AND a hotdog lunch.
Copy and print the form below and complete the information listed. Put the note and the check (MADE OUT TO MAZO SWIM TEAM) in an envelope. Write Polly Mt. Olympus on the envelope and put it in the CRAIG folder at the pool by WEDNESDAY, JULY 14.

Saturday’s swim meet at Mt Horeb will start at 7:30am on Saturday. (Please see your team email for full explanation)
Our plan is to run an abbreviated warm-up for only the older kids from 7:15-7:25am. 8 and Under swimmers who are in the Medley Relay will get organized at Clerk of Course while the older swimmers are swimming a 10 minute warm-up. We’ll exit the pool by 7:25am and start the meet right away at 7:30am.
Please be to the Mt Horeb pool and ready to swim BEFORE 7:15am.
The meet entries for Saturday’s meet at Mt Horeb are now available on the Meet Entries and Results page. ( Entries )
We have scheduled the date for our team and individual photos. We will have the photographer at the pool next Monday, June 14th, during the 5-6pm practice to take individual and team photos. Individual photos will be taken starting at 5pm. We’ll plan to take the team photo at 5:45pm.
I will be (hopefully) distributing order forms in the next day or two. Even if you choose to not order individual photos (entirely your choice), please make sure to be at the pool by 5:45pm on Monday for the team photo (in our team suit). We will only be taking the team photo once.
For individual photos, there will be a follow-up session on Thursday, June 17th from 5-6pm for anyone who cannot make the Monday session.
OK, I’ve received confirmation this morning from the Baraboo president that the rumors are true and the meet will be at the Baraboo High School Indoor pool (see map here http://maps.google.com/maps?q=43.481169,+-89.755983&num=1&t=h&sll=43.480349,-89.756794&sspn=0.02036,0.027507&ie=UTF8&ll=43.480313,-89.756777&spn=0.005449,0.013894&z=17 ). They expect to have teams set up on the grassy area outside (weather cooperating), so please bring your lawn chairs, EZ-Ups, etc.
Be sure to be at the pool and ready to swim at 7:15am.
We are only 2 days into the outdoor practice season, but I feel it is necessary to lay down some ground rules for everyone for the season.
1. Do not interrupt coaches during practice!
2. Address questions/concerns to Andy or Bob, not the assistant coaches.
3. All communication about changes to practices, meets, etc. will come from Any or Bob.
4. Parents are welcome to watch practice from the bleachers, but NOT the pool deck.
5. The pool office is off-limits to both parents and swimmers.
I still haven’t had anyone come forward and volunteer to lead Concessions.
Please consider partnering with someone and stepping up to take on this needed role for the team! It really isn’t much work (mostly planning what is on the menu and ensuring that people are signed up to bring food and staff the booth – I do all the shopping if you give me a shopping list). We don’t have any other committees this year – either you are part of the meet organization (running the meet) or are expected to help with concessions (so there should be lots of help).
Please talk with others at practices, at the meets, etc. if you would like to partner with one or two other people (partnering is good for lots of reasons including spreading responsibility, training, coverage during vacations, etc).
We only have 3 home meets this year, two of which are night meets. Our first home meet is Wednesday, June 16th at 6pm.
Just a reminder that our first swim meet is already here. The meet is this Saturday in Baraboo. For anyone who doesn’t know where the Baraboo outdoor pool is located, maps to the pools is in the Team Handbook (downloadable here… http://inacudamooda.net/Documents/2010%20Team%20Handbook.pdf)
Everyone should be at the Baraboo pool and ready to be in the pool by 7:15am. That means that everyone should be planning to leave about 6:30am to get there on-time and get settled.
See you there – GO CUDAS!
Stroke Clinic will be from 6:30 to 8:00pm on…
Tuesday, May 18th
Wednesday, May 19th
Thursday, May 20th
Tuesday, May 25th
Wednesday, May 26th
Thursday, May 27th
Friday, May 28th
Fees for Stroke Clinic have gone up this year, mostly because of rental costs for the Sauk pool have gone up. The fee per family for participating in Stroke Clinic this year will be $20 for 1 swimmer, $40 for 2 swimmers, or $50 for 3 or more swimmers. Please bring a check payable to “Mazomanie Barracudas Swim Team” to the first practice.
Before attending Stroke Clinic, I also need a completed Swim Team registration AND a signed Release Form. Contact Bob Craig if you have not already received a Release Form via email.
We know that we will be short-handed the first week because of college finals. Because of this, we ask that you only bring your swimmers to Stroke Clinic the first week if they are confident swimmers (can easily make it across the pool on their own). If your swimmer is a first year swimmer (hasn't swam on the team before) and there is any question about their swimming abilities, please wait to bring them until the second week (starting Tuesday, 5/25) when we will have more coaching staff.
Also, I can’t attend most of the stroke clinic dates (I may only be at the first night!). I need a volunteer who can collect payments and release forms. Please let me know if you plan to be at clinic and could help me out with this job.
